Now Uploading

All together, it was close to 600 snaps. Went through everything and almost half of them made the cut. All edited by this evening and ready for upload.

As per usual, I tended to put the metadata, and GPS coordinate pre-processing. An extra step but it would be worth it as by the time my photos exited Aperture, they had their borders and watermarks sorted out as well as tags, GPS locations and caption.

I would then be free to upload them anywhere and all the data would be attached. Uploading to Flickr for example, would just be a quick step through Flickery, and the locations, captions etc would already be attached. Walla!

Even though I use most of the social media as far as photography is concerned, I still use SmugMug as my main hub. It was easier for me to keep every photo in their place as well as exporting them from there using a flash slideshow. The slides could then be customized to the size I wanted.

What's next? An early night followed by an early morning to sort out some presentation slides for this weekend as next week. Good night .....

A New Recipe

So, what's for dinner? Nothing special as we were still recovering from the Singapore trip and the boys were still grumpy from their first day back to school after a long break.

Irfan was happy to have his presents but we decided to have cake this weekend instead. Unfortunately, I'll be on call on Sunday.

Out of the blue, Anita decided to try a new recipe. It was fish cooked in the oven and some spinach. It turned out great, although the gravy was a bit lumpy. Can't complain really.

Happy Birthday Irfan

Irfan is six today. How fast he had grown. 9th of February 2006. The date was picked by Anita since she had to go for Caesearian, some 20 months after she was operated for Idlan.

Anita was born on the 9th as well, hence the reason she picked the date. All went well and over the years, Irfan grew to be a cheeky little munkey! My little Munkey!

Happy Birthday Irfan. We'll have some cakes and toys later!

The Swings of Things

Back to the office but it had been a quiet day so far. And the big news this morning was obviously the resignation of Fabio Capello, and I spent most of the morning catching up with news and paperwork.

One thing I understand about English football is they have a different mentality. For them, it was all about gut rather than guile. It doesn't matter if you were good or bad at it, as long as you show effort, the English loves it. They love a trier. even if the trier is a loser. That's why sublime players such as Berbatov never caught on with the fan. His gangly style looked as if he wasn't trying.

Unfortunately, even though he had been at his job since 2007, Capello never did learn the English mentality. To his own detriment.

Meanwhile, at home, Anita was busy planning the day for Irfan. We were not planning any parties this time as this year it would be Idlan's turn. He was still buzzing about the Singapore trip anyway.

More Thoughts on Philea

After the trip to the pool, we went out - via a buggy pick-up to the reception - for a spot of dinner. We decided to try the buffet.

The one opened is called Carvo Carvo. A local and Western diner, which offer a buffet spread - take this, for RM 68 ++. And the spread was really disappointing. It was embarrassing to be honest, both in terms of quality and quantity. They really could do with a new chef. Even their local dessert - ironically sago gula Melaka, you can't get any more local than that - was bad!

I ended up eating my boys a la carte items, which was a lot better. So, don't make the mistake of paying for the expensive buffet. It was not worth it. Go for the a la carte order instead.

The place was nice and peaceful at night. We walked towards the children crèche to see what was on offer. Nothing much. It was meant for toddlers really. But a nice walk by the pool none the less.

At night, the pool and waterfall were lit by floodlights to different colours. There were also a 24 hours room service of you fancy that, as well as free wifi in the compound. Unfortunately, since our room was at the opposite end of the resort, no wifi for us. The Celcom coverage was also on an Edge network. No high speed Internet for us unfortunately.

Saturday night was football night. And football does not know holidays. The room does not have Astro Sports Channels believe it or not, although the bar does. No Internet. No football. I went to bed by 10 pm. And it was Saturday evening!
